Biography
Symbolism and Renewal in Lacquer Painting.
Born in 1940 in Gia Dinh, HO HUU THU graduated from Saigon Fine Art School in 1963. In recent years, Ho has renewed the art of applying successive layers of lacquer and repeated pumicings with the mixture of new colouring substances and the injection of gold and silver dust. The result is a new range of evocative definition with purity of line and splendour of colouring, conveying an impression of mysterious tranquility.
An Unconventional Expressionist.
Born in 1942 in Saigon, TRINH THANH TUNG is a self-taught painter who has taken oil painting since 1958. His works, characterized by bold strokes, harmony of tones and asymmetric composition, show a natural gift towards original research, evoking the strange beauty of the Neo-romantic. TRINH THANH TUNG most recent works attest to the freshness of his inspiration, while a discreet charm emanates from his iconography.
